Barbara Kimball is a well known professional potter and teacher. For thirty-three
years she has produced sculptural works and a very popular line of white
and blue hand painted functional pieces such as casseroles, mugs and bowls.
Teapots and dragons are a specialty.
She has been the recipient of several Ontario Arts Council Awards for
clay projects in the Region's schools, and teaches classes for local galleries.
The pieces are high fired stoneware clay. Many pieces are etched and carved.
Some are constructed from slabs while others are thrown on the potter's
wheel.
She is currently involved in a fourth ArtsSmarts project making clay
musical instruments with 65 students.
ArtsSmarts is a national program promoting the teaching of arts infused
curricula, learning through the arts. ArtsSmarts is a rewarding experience
for students and the artist.
